What's new
What changed in each version of the app and each website update, newest first. App versions look like 1.34.2: the middle number is the app you installed, the last one counts the updates it got by itself since.
Website updateNov 2, 2026
- ChangedThe He / She / It / Other pronoun choice is also on the add-a-vehicle forms, under the nickname, for every kind including bicycles and equipment. The "How do you ride it?" question follows what you pick.
v1.46.0New app to installNov 2, 2026
- FixedA battery monitor that the phone lost track of without noticing now reconnects by itself within about 30 seconds, so rides start from it again. Before, it could stay stuck until you removed it and set it up again.
- FixedOBD readings on Honda and Acura (and other cars that talk on 29-bit CAN) no longer vanish a few seconds after connecting. The OBD tile says why readings paused (engine off, the car not answering, or the reader lost) and they come back by themselves. Tap that line to reconnect, or say "reconnect the reader". If the reader drops off Bluetooth, the tile says Reader lost and it tries again within a few seconds during a trip, on the connection and protocol that worked for that car before.
- NewAsk Claude, in the Claude app, to start an engine log, reconnect the OBD reader, or clear a check-engine code. Clearing a code isn't on the orange talk button.
- NewShare a song to your friends' Bootleg straight from Spotify or YouTube Music: tap Share, then WheelHarness Bootleg (in Spotify it's under More). It goes to the friends you burned to last, and a bubble lets you change who gets it or undo it. Podcast episodes and YouTube talk videos go to Nerding. WheelHarness doesn't need to be open.
Website updateNov 2, 2026
- FixedOn a car, truck or van, the PartSource link for a part (spark plugs, oil filter, brake pads…) now opens a product PartSource lists as fitting your vehicle, instead of a search that showed parts for other cars. If PartSource has nothing that fits, it says so. The PartsAvatar link only shows when PartsAvatar has a page for that part on your vehicle.
Website updateNov 2, 2026
- ChangedChecklists is now a button at the top of a vehicle's Maintenance box. Starting a checklist goes straight to the list: the odometer (or hour meter) is the first box on it, so you can fill it in once you're at the dash and change it any time before you finish.
- Changed"Shop" is now called "Parts": the tab in a vehicle's Maintenance box, the Parts page in the menu, and the parts page itself. On the parts list each row says Buy.
- NewPick what to call each vehicle: He, She, It, or Other (they/them, xe/xem, ze/zir, fae/faer, ey/em). It's in the vehicle's Settings under the nickname (a ship's is under its name). The vehicle's pages, Claude, and the Cockpit voice use it. Nothing changes until you pick: motorcycles are still "she" and everything else "it".
Website updateNov 2, 2026
- ChangedSigning in with a Google account that has no WheelHarness account yet now asks first: create one, or use a different Google account. Picking the wrong Google account on your phone no longer makes a second, empty garage. (Sign up with Google still creates the account straight away.)
Website updateNov 2, 2026
- FixedThe Engine card no longer offers the car's odometer when it reads lower than the meter on file (an older reading from before you drove more). It only shows when the car is ahead.
- NewThe crash guide's "What happened" list now fits your vehicle and never suggests whose fault it was: "Collision with another vehicle", wildlife, a pedestrian or cyclist, rollovers for ATVs, sinking, capsizing or a swimmer for boats, and "Dropped it" only for bikes. Witnesses now come right after What happened, so you can get their names before they leave.
Website updateNov 2, 2026
- NewIn the app, setting up a new vehicle now asks right after "How will you look after it?" for a device that starts trips by themselves (its stereo, your intercom or a battery monitor). Until you link one, or tap "I'll only start trips by hand", the Devices card on the vehicle's page keeps asking. Everyone sharing a vehicle answers for their own phone.
- NewNew Devices page (wheelharness.com/devices, also in Extras): the devices we've tested for starting trips and reading the engine, with where to buy them.
Website updateNov 2, 2026
- ChangedOn a vehicle page, the fuel box's fill list (tap the economy line under Save) now shows every fill, even when they're all partial. Tap edit on a fill to fix its day, odometer, fuel, price or "filled it right up", or delete it. "+ Add a missed fill" logs one you forgot. The Snap the odometer and Choose photo buttons are gone.
- FixedIn the app, photo pickers (VIN, documents, vehicle photos and the rest) are now one button that opens your camera or your saved photos. The "Snap" / "Camera" button that did nothing is gone.
Website updateNov 2, 2026
- NewEngine logs and the vehicle page now show what Claude wrote about the engine, with the readings it used. It's labeled as Claude's read, not a mechanic's inspection.
Website updateNov 2, 2026
- ChangedThe Bootleg page's My Bootleg tab now lists podcasts you sent, under My Nerding. You can take one off the same way as a song.
Website updateNov 1, 2026
- NewEvery vehicle now has a Checklists page (link on the vehicle page) with the owner inspection, the season checklists and two new short checks: Under the hood (for an oil change) and Wheels off (for a tire swap, rotation or brake job). Logging one of those jobs offers the matching check, and short checks don't count as the full owner inspection.
- FixedThe season-mode tip for a car, truck or van now talks about getting it ready for winter driving, not putting it away.
- ChangedA motorcycle's spec sheet now has front and rear axle torque separately, plus the stock chain (brand and series, which sets its strength), the master link (rivet, clip or endless) and the number of links. The Wheels off check quotes your bike's own torque figures from it.
Website updateNov 1, 2026
- FixedOn a car, truck or van, the Winter's coming card now says "Don't remind me" instead of "I use it all year" — those checklists are for winter driving, not storage.
Website updateNov 1, 2026
- FixedBring-Along pickup and delivery times, hold times on parts, and a friend's days driven now show in your own time zone. The link you send a recipient shows their time zone too.
Website updateNov 1, 2026
- FixedJobs logged late in the evening — including from Claude — now keep your own day, not tomorrow's. Dates and times in your garage, and in Claude's answers, follow your own time zone.
v1.45.0New app to installNov 1, 2026
- NewThe OBD reader now shows more of what your car reports. The pill on the OBD tile opens Car readings: the standard readings every car with the port can give (distance since the codes were cleared, fuel pressure, catalyst temperature, fuel type and more), plus your model's own readings when it's in OBDb, an open community database (odometer, tire pressures, oil and transmission temperature, fuel in litres…). Nothing to set up: it goes by the make, model, year and VIN in your garage, and it works with Hondas, BMWs and MINIs, which talk to their modules differently.
- FixedA trip started by hand while you were just walking around no longer gets kilometres added before Start, and its speeds no longer read hundreds of km/h. The late-start estimate now only counts when the phone noticed you leave your vehicle's own parking spot right away and the trip really drives afterwards. A speed that can't be real for that kind of vehicle, or an average from under a minute of moving, shows — instead.
- NewDatalog your drive: on the OBD tile's sheet, the new Datalog tab has a Start datalog button. Pick how often it saves (every reading down to once a minute) and whether it uploads live. While it records, the pill reads ● REC with the time. It keeps going after the trip ends and stops by itself 5 minutes after the engine is off; a notification has a Stop button. Something just happened? Save the last 15 min (next to Start) keeps the minutes before it as a log of its own. On the talk-to-Claude button, say "start logging", "stop the log" or "save that".
Website updateNov 1, 2026
- NewWhen your car reports its odometer through the OBD reader, the vehicle's Engine section shows the number with a Use it as the reading button. Nothing is saved until you tap it.
- NewEngine logs on the vehicle page: every OBD datalog from the app, with charts of the readings you pick, the lowest, average and highest of each, the check-engine events, Download CSV, Keep ★ and Delete with Undo. Claude can read them too, through the connector and the talk-to-Claude button, including a log that's still recording.
- NewSeason checklists (put away, wake up, winter prep, spring switch) take notes: tap + note on any row, or + Add a note above Finish. They save as you type. When you wake the bike up, the notes you wrote when you put it away show at the top.
- ChangedTicking an oil change (or any service) on a season checklist now opens the normal service form right under the row, with today's odometer, oil, cost and photos. Saving logs it straight away and updates the vehicle's odometer. Unticking it asks whether to delete the logged entry too.
- NewYou can change a finished season checklist until you start the next one: the vehicle page shows "Put away · Oct 31 · Edit".
- NewService entries in your history now have an Edit link next to Delete: change the job, date, reading, cost, notes, oil details and photos.
- FixedA job you fixed up with Edit on a chat card and then saved no longer leaves the card's Log it button behind to log it a second time. Logging the same job twice on one day now asks "Log another one?" first, in the chat, the log form and season checklists.
- FixedA job logged from a chat card late in the evening no longer lands on tomorrow's date.
v1.43.0New app to installOct 31, 2026
- ChangedWhile you drive, the Cockpit comes back by itself: 15 seconds without a touch on your garage (or any other WheelHarness screen) and it opens again, the same as from other apps. No more tapping the orange bar with gloves on.
- ChangedA trip that starts by itself (your vehicle's Bluetooth, or the battery monitor hearing the engine start) opens the Cockpit 3 seconds later with no tap, even when the phone is locked: it shows over the lock screen and turns the screen on (not in a pocket). Leaving the Cockpit while the phone is locked asks you to unlock first.
- NewOBD readers (vLinker and other ELM327 Bluetooth readers) now work: link one to a car in Devices and the new OBD tile in the Cockpit shows RPM, speed, coolant, volts and fuel during a drive, with a pill that opens your check-engine codes (what they mean, Read again, Clear codes). A new code during a drive sends one notification.
- NewA vehicle with an OBD reader gets an Engine section on its page: the check-engine light, its codes with when each was first seen, and the last few drives' hottest coolant, top speed, RPM, volts and fuel used. (website)
Website updateOct 29, 2026
- Fixed3D walkaround: every shot you take is kept on your phone until it's uploaded. If the page reloads, the app closes or the signal drops halfway round, Continue the walkaround sends the shots you already took and you only take the missing ones.
- FixedForms keep your photos and what you typed until they're sent: the sell form, Log a job, Ask the mechanic, buyer and seller messages, Ask AI in the owner inspection, Import a receipt, Snap your manual's schedule, Sell a part and the buying page's Add photos. Reload, leave or have the app close and they come back with "kept from earlier" and Remove; a failed send keeps everything for the next try. Inspection notes you were in the middle of typing come back too. In the crash guide, photos you take with no signal stay on the phone (marked On phone) and go up by themselves when the signal is back. Photos waiting on your phone are let go after 30 days, and if the phone's storage is full it says so and asks you to send before you leave the page.
- FixedVehicle photos: picking several photos at once no longer loses most of them on Android. Every photo you pick is kept on your phone until it's uploaded, so if you leave the page, reload or the app closes, the vehicle page shows "N photos from earlier didn't finish uploading" with Upload them and Discard. A failed photo stays saved and Try again really works now, and a photo that reached us just before the app closed is not added a second time. If your phone won't hand over a photo at all, it says so and asks you to pick that one again. Photo pickers elsewhere (forms, the buying page, 3D shots) also grab your photos right away.
v1.42.0New app to installOct 29, 2026
- ChangedCockpit: fewer tiles to pick from on busy vehicles. Cars, trucks and vans no longer get G-FORCES or JAMJAR, motorcycles no longer get ECO or JAMJAR, and ATVs and side-by-sides no longer get JAMJAR. If one was on your screen, a basic tile takes its place.
- NewShips: a new AIS tile on your own ship's Cockpit (pick it like any tile). It shows everything the ship's AIS sends: live or how old the last fix is, speed over ground (tap the unit to change it), course, heading, status (under way, at anchor, moored…), position, and the ship's name, call sign, IMO, MMSI, type, length × beam, draught, destination and ETA, plus how many positions were logged this voyage. Out of signal it keeps the last answer and says how old it is.
- ChangedCREW tile: a friend's speed that comes from their ship's AIS has a small "AIS" after it.
- NewMUSIC tile: hold it and pick "Your music app" (Spotify, YouTube Music or any other music app on your phone). Voice "play …", the Bootleg and CREW tune-in play there, and it stays put until you change it, instead of switching to whichever app you used last.
- FixedMusic: swiping between apps (or pressing Back) past WheelHarness no longer starts the next Bootleg or CREW song and drags you into the Cockpit. A waiting song now starts only once WheelHarness has been on screen for 2 seconds, or right away when you tap play or ⏭.
- ChangedShips: the wake-up alarm is gone from the app (no more ringing at the end of sleep blocks, snooze or Test alarm). Sleep mode, Sleep now / I'm up and "😴 Asleep" in CREW work as before. "Alarm setup ›" under VOYAGE is now "Ship setup ›": notifications, battery and the ship's clocks.
- FixedTrips screen in the app: couch time no longer shows up as a trip. Your couch sessions are still on the couch's own page on the website.
- FixedCockpit: on some trips the Cockpit never came up by itself and the bubble vanished for the rest of the ride (when the Cockpit tried to open while the phone was locked). It now waits until the phone is unlocked, and the bubble stays until the Cockpit is really on screen.
- FixedBattery monitor: tapping a "Charging low" or "Overcharging" notification now opens that vehicle's Battery section with the graph (it did nothing before). The message says what happened (how low, at what speed, whether the ride started on a low battery) and that heated gear can cause it, instead of blaming the stator.
- FixedBattery monitor: if the phone loses its connection to the monitor and doesn't get it back by itself, it now reconnects as soon as the monitor is in range again, so starting the engine starts the ride.
- NewBattery monitor: the phone now notices heated grips, a heated jacket or other gear switching on while you ride (the charging voltage steps down at once). The BATT tile shows it ("Heated gear on · −0.9 V · topping up slower", or "draining" in red). Once the vehicle page knows it's heated gear, you're only warned when it actually drains the battery, not every time the grips warm up, and stopping at a light with the grips on no longer reads as the engine switching off.
- NewCouch mode: if you start driving while still on the couch, the phone notices (Android says you're in a vehicle, then 30 seconds over 25 km/h), stands you up and starts a trip on the vehicle it can reach over Bluetooth. Nothing in reach: you stand up and a notification lets you start one.
- ChangedPhone setup: every step that opens Android's Settings now says, in a yellow box and in a short message on top of Settings, to come back to WheelHarness if it doesn't work, and coming back with it still off shows exactly what to look for. Cockpit music on phones where the switch is grey (the app wasn't installed from the Play Store) now walks you through unlocking it in three short parts, starting before you even get there when the phone tells us it's locked. Same help from the garage's "Finish setting up".
Website updateOct 29, 2026
- ChangedCockpit help page: says which vehicles don't get the G-FORCES, ECO or JAMJAR tiles (so none has more than 8).
Website updateOct 28, 2026
- NewVehicle page, Battery section: after a ride where charging dropped in one step, it asks once "Was heated gear on?". Rides with heated gear get their own lines (how low it held, what it charged at without, from what speed it still charges, how long the battery paid for it) and a season summary once there are 3. Heated grips in your Mods count without asking.
Website updateOct 28, 2026
- NewClaude connector: "how's everything?", your trips and what's due now show as a small card in Claude (tap a vehicle to open its page), and Claude's + menu under WheelHarness has ready-made asks: Weekly garage check, Before a ride, Log a fill-up, Owner inspection, What did I spend this year.
- NewShips: no MMSI? Put the ship's IMO number in its settings and WheelHarness finds the MMSI by itself from the ship's own AIS, once the ship passes near a shore receiver (coasts, straits, ports). Under the MMSI box the settings page says "Listening for the ship's AIS to find its MMSI" meanwhile, then where the number came from ("Found from the ship's own AIS" or "From the ship facts"), and shows what the ship's AIS says about itself: name, call sign, type, size, draught, destination and ETA. A number you typed is never replaced.
- ChangedCREW: a friend on a ship now shows their ship's AIS speed whenever it's fresh (the last 15 minutes), marked AIS on the website's CREW tile, and their phone's GPS speed otherwise. Speed only: never the ship's position.
- ChangedCockpit guide: "On a ship" explains the AIS tile and how the MMSI is found from the IMO.
- ChangedCockpit guide: explains the MUSIC tile's new "Your music app" setting.
- ChangedShips: the wake-up alarm settings are gone from the ship's settings and the crew setup (and the per-block "alarm" tick in the sleep schedule). Your sleep schedule stays as it was.
- FixedClaude connector: Claude no longer says your odometer is broken when the app's trips have simply moved it forward, finds a vehicle when you say make and nickname together ("Dodge Dirty Diesel"), and understands a vehicle's name wherever it used to need its id. Your history reads cleaner too: app-trip meter bumps are summed into one line instead of filling the list.
- NewClaude connector: Claude can now answer "when did I last drive the truck and for how long" from your app trips, tell you roughly how much fuel is left and how far it'll go, find part numbers with buy links, show dyno, braking/lean and ECO results, list your saved routes, add up what each vehicle cost you, and give a one-glance summary of the whole garage. Its answers link straight to the right page on the website.
- NewClaude connector: Claude can walk you through an owner inspection item by item and save it once you've said yes, change how often a job is due ("oil every 5,000 km", or months only), and mark a meter broken or working again. Each one can be undone by asking Claude to undo it.
- FixedClaude connector: asking Claude for your trips no longer mixes in couch time. Ask about the couch by name to hear its sessions.
v1.41.0New app to installOct 27, 2026
- FixedCockpit maps: tapping a numbered search pin now takes you there, and tapping a ⛽ gas pin on the map works too (both did nothing before). If GPS isn't ready yet, it says so instead of ignoring the tap.
- ChangedCREW tile: a friend asleep on their ship shows "😴 Asleep · up in 3 h" with a dimmed cartoon and a little Zzz, and their call button greys out to "asleep". Recording or sending them a voice message says they'll hear it when they're up.
- ChangedMap search: the 🏠 set button is gone from search results so you can't make a place Home by accident. Set Home from your recent places instead.
- ChangedCockpit: the speed limit sign now has one home, top right next to the Claude button. Once you're moving it takes END's spot; END comes back when you slow down. The signs in the SPEED and MAP tiles are gone.
- ChangedMusic bar: the artist now sits next to the song name (it scrolls when long), so the line under it always says where the song is coming from: your music app, or whose Bootleg or Nerding.
Website updateOct 27, 2026
- ChangedSend diagnostics is now on by default, so when something goes wrong in the app we can see why. If you turned it off before, it stays off. You can switch it off any time on your Account page or in the app's Trip settings.
Website updateOct 27, 2026
- FixedSnapping a VIN: hard-to-read stickers (faded, upside down, odd angles, old short VINs from before 1981) now read much more reliably. A tough one can take up to half a minute.
- ChangedFriends page and the website Cockpit's CREW: a friend asleep on their ship now shows "😴 Asleep · up in 3 h" with a dimmed picture and a greyed "asleep" instead of looking offline. A voice message to them says they'll hear it when they're up.
v1.40.0New app to installOct 27, 2026
- NewOn a ship voyage the app now uses the ship's own AIS position and speed when there is one (add the MMSI in the ship's settings), and falls back to the phone's GPS when there isn't. Speed, map position and distance each say which one they come from, and offline hours follow the ship's logged track once you have signal again.
- ChangedMusic bar: the three Bootleg buttons are now one cassette button. Tap the tape to play whatever this vehicle played last; tap the arrow next to it for Bootleg, My Bootleg, Nerding or My Nerding, with WHO › on each to play just one friend's.
- NewMy Nerding: play the podcasts you sent to friends, from the cassette button's arrow.
- ChangedMusic bar: after you burn a song, the flame shows who got it (like DAVE ▾) until the song changes. Tap it to change who gets it. Like and thumbs-down never move any more.
- ChangedMusic bar: after a burn, a message just above the bar says exactly whose Bootleg it went on and how to change it. It closes by itself after a few seconds, or tap it.
- ChangedShips: the IMO number and the MMSI now have a box each, when you add a ship and in its settings (⚙ on the ship's page). Leave the MMSI empty and it's filled in from the ship facts when your IMO finds the ship. (website)
v1.38.0New app to installOct 27, 2026
- ChangedCockpit music bar: the buttons now stay put. Bootleg, Nerd, My Bootleg, back, play, next and Burn It are always in the same spots: the one playing turns orange, and one with nothing to do is dimmed instead of vanishing. Like and thumbs-down moved up next to the song name. The 💿 CD button and its auto-play are gone.
- NewNavigation talks as much as you want: tap 🔊 on the map to switch between All directions, One per turn (just a short "Turn left." about 5 seconds before each turn) and Quiet. Your choice is remembered. One per turn needs the new app version.
- ChangedCockpit navigation: the map now fills the MAP tile and the next turn, arrival time and END float on it as small cards, so you see much more map. Make the tile small with the seam and the next turn fills it in big letters; tap it to see the map for 10 seconds.
- NewCockpit settings has a big I had a crash button at the top: it opens the crash guide for the vehicle you're driving.
- NewThe app has the same Send diagnostics switch, in Trip settings (⚙ on the Trips screen). With it on, Cockpit settings gets an I'm testing button: tap it before dropping the phone or tipping the bike on purpose, and for 10 minutes those knocks count as tests, not possible crashes.
- ChangedThe couch Cockpit no longer has the COUCH tile: how long you've sat is already in the top bar.
- NewOn the couch, the MAP tile has 🔍 WHERE TO?: search an address or place to make it your next drive (🏁 on the map). When you start a trip, the Cockpit guides you there by itself.
- FixedSpotify: when a Bootleg song, the CD or a friend's song starts in Spotify, a black STARTING IN SPOTIFY card covers Spotify's screen and you're back on the Cockpit as soon as it plays (tap Back to Cockpit to come back sooner). No more being left in Spotify. Needs Display over other apps, the same switch as the bubble.
- FixedBootleg: songs no longer change part way through when the signal drops, and Bootleg songs that aren't on Spotify are skipped straight away instead of opening an empty Spotify search.
- NewTalk to Claude in the Cockpit: say "I crashed" (or "I got rear-ended", "I dropped the bike") and Claude says "If anyone's hurt, call 911" and opens the crash guide for the vehicle you're driving. Say it's a test and it's marked as a test.
- NewShips: tap 🚢 Board on your ship's page to start a voyage. It keeps counting in the background for weeks, even through no signal, app switching and phone restarts, and never asks if you're still on board. The ship Cockpit shows speed, heading, distance today and in total, days at sea and how old the last GPS fix is, plus marine weather (wind, waves, swell; kept on the phone for when there's no internet), music and CREW. To end, hold END for 3 seconds; you get 10 seconds to undo.
- NewShip crew: sleep mode turns on and off by your sleep schedule (or tap Sleep now / I'm up). The wake-up alarm rings full screen even if the phone restarted overnight. A music alarm checks that the music really started; if it didn't, there's no internet, or headphones/Bluetooth are connected, it plays a loud alarm sound instead, and the sound joins in after 5 minutes. Set it up and try it with Test alarm in 1 min.
- NewShips and boats: tap the speed unit in the Cockpit to switch between knots, km/h and mph; distances follow (nautical miles, km or miles).
- ChangedFewer "Connected to your …" pop-ups: none while the app or Cockpit is open, none for trips started by the battery monitor (you're already moving by then), and none if Display over other apps is on. Instead, the Cockpit bubble shows as soon as the trip starts, so one tap brings you to the Cockpit.
- NewNavigation search shows its results as numbered pins on a map above the list, so you can see which one is which. Tap a pin to go there (or to make it your next drive on the couch).
- NewNavigation route options, remembered for each vehicle: motorcycles can pick Twisty (goes out of its way for curvy roads) or Max gravel (as much country gravel as fits), cars get Twisty, with +15 min / +30 min / +1 h of extra time allowed. Avoid highways, tolls, gravel or ferries (bicycles: gravel, busy roads, hills, and pick your bike). After you pick a place, a short route card says what you got. Miss a turn and the new route keeps the plan.
- ChangedThe old Gravel OK route choice is gone: it never actually found gravel. Max gravel replaces it.
- NewSpeed limit sign beside your speed in the Cockpit, even with no signal (the phone keeps your province's limits and its neighbours'). Over the limit your speed turns red and it chimes once; a double chime means a fixed speed camera ahead. Long-press the sign to pick red only, voice or off, and how much over counts.
- NewLow fuel: at a quarter tank or about 60 km left, the Cockpit shows how far you can go and the nearest gas stations on the map. While navigating it tells you the next station on your way with ADD STOP, and warns "Last gas for 140 km" before a long empty stretch. Needs the fuel gauge set (one full fill-up).
- ChangedWalking away from your vehicle mid-trip: the Cockpit bubble now goes away and the Cockpit stops opening by itself while you're on foot. Both come back once you're driving again. Needs the new app version.
- NewWhen a new app version is out for everyone, the garage shows a "New app" banner with a Download & install button (only if your app is older). "Later" hides it for a day. (website)
Website updateOct 26, 2026
- NewBring-Along: when you type a pickup or drop-off address, the matches show as numbered pins on a small map. Click a pin to pick that place.
Website updateOct 26, 2026
- NewOwner inspection: after you mark an item Good, tap ✎ Add a note to jot down anything worth remembering, like how much brake pad is left or where the oil sits on the dipstick. Next inspection shows what you wrote last time under that item, and the inspection summary lists your notes.
Website updateOct 26, 2026
- FixedNavigation search finds places better, by voice or typed: towns over 150 km away (Lake Louise, Edmonton) beat streets with the same name, "the nearest Tim Hortons" and "McDonald's" find the closest one, "gas", "coffee" or "hospital" find the nearest of that kind, and spoken addresses like "eleven oh five 39th Street South East" work. By voice, a far-away match that isn't a town you named is asked about before the route starts.
- NewEach vehicle's page has an I had a crash button under Documents: a calm step-by-step guide with a Call 911 button, what happened and where, your insurance card full screen to hand over, photos of the other driver's licence, insurance and plate (it reads them for you to check), damage photos, witnesses, police and, on bikes, an after-a-drop check. It saves as you go, works with no signal once you've opened the vehicle's page with signal, and ends with Copy for my insurer. Saved reports show in the vehicle's history and under Crash reports.
- NewAccount has a new Send diagnostics switch: it lets the app send its troubleshooting log and possible-crash readings so we can fix bugs faster. On by default for testers, off for everyone else. Kept 30 days, no exact locations.
- NewNew Privacy page (link at the bottom of every page, and on Account next to Send diagnostics) explains what we keep, why, who else sees it and how long.
- NewClaude connector: tell Claude you were in an accident and it can start a crash report on that vehicle and give you the link to the crash guide, where you add photos, the other driver and insurance.
- NewAdd a ship you're travelling or working on: Add a vehicle → No VIN? → 🚢 Ship (cruise, ferry, freighter). Give its name, and its line or IMO number if you know them. The ship's page shows facts about it from the web (size, year built, builder and more, marked "may be wrong"), its story when there's a real one, a "Which one is yours?" pick when several ships share the name, and your voyages.
- NewWorking on a ship? Pick "I work on it" and set your sleep schedule (watch presets, 6 on / 6 off, day worker, or your own blocks, rotations too), the ship's clock (with one-tap +1 h / −1 h when the ship changes its clocks) and a wake-up alarm. It's all in the ship's settings (⚙ on its page). While a voyage is on and you're asleep, friends see you offline, can't call, and their voice messages wait until you're up.
- NewCREW: a friend on a ship's voyage shows as 🚢 At sea · and the ship's name, or 🚢 At sea — no signal when their phone has been out of reach a while, instead of offline.
- ChangedBoats: trip distances can show in nautical miles, km or miles. Pick in the boat's settings under Speed and distance.
- FixedAdding a vehicle by VIN: when the photo reads the VIN wrong, the box to fix it now has a Next button and counts the characters, and you can fix more than one wrong character. Upright photos of VIN tags that run up and down (like the one under the windshield) also read much better.
v1.37.1App updateOct 24, 2026
- NewWhen the Cockpit sees you've walked away from the vehicle ("On foot"), the bar now has an END button: one tap ends the trip where you parked, and the walk doesn't count.
- FixedSearching for a street address (NAVIGATE in the Cockpit, or a Bring-Along pickup or drop-off) now finds houses the map was missing, like many Calgary homes, and lists the nearest first. Places in far-away cities only show when nothing closer matches, with how far they are. (website)
v1.37.0New app to installOct 24, 2026
- NewThe couch Cockpit has the MAP tile: it shows where you are and any friend sharing their location with you, so you can watch them on the way over. There's no NAVIGATE button on the couch.
- ChangedThe Cockpit map, a friend's location map and saved routes now use WheelHarness's own map instead of Google's. NAVIGATE always guides with WheelHarness (the Google choice is gone), and NAVIGATE TO on a friend's map now guides you there right in the Cockpit. Nothing in the Cockpit opens the Google Maps app any more: boats, equipment, ATVs, side-by-sides and snowmobiles have no NAVIGATE button for now.
- ChangedCouch mode no longer puts the round return bubble over other apps when you leave WheelHarness. It's still there while you drive.
- ChangedThe couch Cockpit is set up for home: it opens with MUSIC on top and CREW below, and how long you've sat moves to the top bar. Turn the phone sideways for a big jukebox: the song on now with large play, skip and back buttons, and your music lists beside it.
- NewNEXT DRIVE tile on the couch: friends' planned trips (tap to call them, or send something along with that trip), things friends need carried (tap one for its photos, size and towns, and I'M DRIVING THAT WAY to post a trip with those towns filled in), routes shared with you and your own saved routes, plus I'M DRIVING TO… and SEND buttons.
- FixedAfter you end a trip in the Cockpit, the orange "Trip in progress" bar is gone when your garage shows, instead of hanging around until the page reloads.
- NewWhile WheelHarness guides you, it keeps an eye out for friends' Bring-Along things that are ready to grab on the rest of your way. When there are some, a quiet "📦 2 ON YOUR WAY · +6 min" chip shows on the map, with no pop-up or sound. Tap it to see them; ACCEPT turns your guidance to the pickup.
- ChangedThe Bring-Along "items on your way" sheet when you start NAVIGATE now also shows while you're moving, and waits for you to tap GO instead of going by itself.
- FixedIn the app, the Couch mode card at the top of the garage always goes straight to the app's couch Cockpit, never the website's Cockpit page. (website)
- FixedThe couch Cockpit shows your couch's picture at the top left again, and your couch's hours count your couch sessions again. A TV or soundbar linked to the couch no longer gets unlinked when the app starts. (website)
- ChangedBring-Along has its own card in your garage (and in the side menu on a computer), showing items on the way and things waiting for you to carry. It's no longer on the Friends page. Every Bring-Along page now has the EXIT sign to go back. (website)
- NewSending something with Bring-Along: tick "Ready now: someone can grab it any time" and friends already driving past can take it on the way. You're told when they'll be there; there's nothing to confirm. (website)
- NewA friend's Bring-Along item has its own page with its photos, size, towns and needed-by date, and I'M DRIVING THAT WAY opens the trip form with those towns filled in. Sending something along a friend's planned trip shows "Going along with Dave" on the form and then tells you if it fits their way. (website)
- NewThe website Cockpit has the Next drive tile too: friends' plans, things to bring along, shared and saved routes, with I'M DRIVING TO… and SEND. (website)
v1.35.0New app to installOct 24, 2026
- NewTurn-by-turn navigation inside the Cockpit map tile: tap NAVIGATE, pick a place, and the app talks you through the turns, even with the screen off. You can choose to be guided by Google instead (Cockpit settings).
- NewYour phone keeps every trip's route for 30 days. Save one afterwards and share it with CREW friends or as a link. 🗺 ROUTES on a friend's CREW card shows the routes they shared.
- NewFuel stop reminder: stop at a gas station and the phone asks if you want to log the fill-up. Settings are in the Trips ⚙ sheet.
- NewAdd-a-device wizard for battery monitors and other trip starters. Each device can start trips or not, and you can give them nicknames.
- NewBring-Along: carry a friend's item on a trip you're already making. Items on your way show up before guidance starts.
- NewA new CREW friend is offered your burned songs from before: the last 20, or all of them.
- ChangedCockpit bar is easier for right thumbs: DYNO on the left, the grip on the right, tiles ordered by when you last used them.
- ChangedBattery monitor waits up to 5 minutes for the starting dip, for slow warm-ups.
- FixedMusic no longer pulls you out of another app (WhatsApp etc.). Bootleg waits until you're back, and says when Spotify is playing on a speaker.
- NewCouch mode is one tap at the top of the garage. The couch is no longer listed as a vehicle. (website)
- NewBring-Along on the website: send an item with a friend who's driving that way, and follow it on a live map. (website)
- NewMy routes on the website, plus links to shared routes. (website)
- NewThis What's new page. Tap the version next to GARAGE in the app to open it. (website)
- ChangedBroken meter: distance now comes from app trips instead of fuel. Typing a real reading fixes it. (website)
- ChangedThe Shop button is gone from the garage top bar. (website)
- ChangedWords fit the vehicle: "ride" for bikes, "drive" for cars and trucks, and so on. (website)
- NewCouch mode on the website too: one tap on STAND UP in the website Cockpit gets you off the couch. (website)
Website updateOct 23, 2026
